Julius Caesar ~ In Class Writing

“If thou consider rightly of the matter, Caesar has had great wrong.” Pg134. In this scene Antony is trying to persuade to the people that Caesar has done nothing wrong and that the conspirators are jealous and are murderers. This is what drives antony to seek his goal because antony loves Caesar so much that he cant tolerate what the conspirator have done. Driven by loyalty and revenge, antony seeks to avenge caesars death.

Antony loves Caesar so much and is so loyal to Caesar that antony does anything for him and is willing to defend caesars honor. Antony is motivated this way because he admires Caesar so much and admires how great Caesar really is. He thinks he has to be loyal to Caesar because he wants to be like his right hand man and wants to be as great as Caesar. He is so loyal to Caesar he behaves like a slave to Caesar and will do anything for Caesar. He always listens to what Caesar says and when Caesar gives antony a task it is always performed. He is always with Caesar in the public and when Caesar speak antony is loyal and makes the crowd quiet. This is how this motivator manifests antonys behaviour. “I shall remember when Caesar says, ’do this’ it is perform’d” pg26. Caesar is giving antony the task to touch Calpurnias butt during the games to celebrate caesars return from the great battle with pompey. This quotation means that antony is always loyal to Caesar and when Caesar gives him a task it is performed. This shows how loyal he is to Caesar because he is willing to do anything for Caesar anytime and anywhere. Antony does not only do what Caesar says but even when he is dead he defended caesars honor by using many techniques, he does this because he loves Caesar and thinks Caesar should nt have deserved to die. “You all did see that on the lupercal I thrice presented him a kingly crown, which he did thrice refuse. Was this ambition?” pg 134. Antony is giving a burial speech when the conspirators allowed him to speak and antony is taking advantage and is trying to make the romans realize that Caesar has done nothing wrong and did not have ambition. The conspirators had thought that Caesar had and ambition and that is why they killed him. This quotation is saying that if he had an ambition why didn’t he take the crown he was presented to? Antony is trying to say he didn’t have and ambition and that he did not deserve to die. This shows he is willing to do anything that will benefit Caesar because antony is so loyal to Caesar. Antony is a loyal character to Caesar and he will do anything for Caesar.

Because antony is so loyal to Caesar he is seeking revenge for caesars death. Antony believes Caesar should not have died because Caesar has done nothing wrong and that the conspirators killed Caesar because they were jealous of his power. He became motivated this way when the conspiritors had killed Caesar and antony being so loyal wants to seek revenge because he loves Caesar. Antony after Caesar death becomes very tactical and smart rather than before as we knew him as a party animal. He is also became a very dangerous and sad person because he is an emotional wreck when he speaks at the funeral and he is dangerous because he is outrage and wants to creat chaos not only in rome but in the whole of italy. “Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.” Pg 125. Antony is saying that he wants to create chaos in the whole of rome and is also saying how blood will be so in use because of war. This was after the killing scene and antony is alone with caesars body talking about how the war is going to be bad. This shows how bad antony wants to avenge caesars death because he wants to create a terrible war among themselves, a civil war. Antony is really in a furious state that he is seeking the conspirators to kill them just for Caesar. “Revenge! About! Seek! Burn! Fire! Kill! Slay! Let not a traitor live.” Pg 142. Antony has just shared the will which was a way of persuading the crowd and the crowd have now realized the conspiritors have done wrong and now the romans want revenge also and want to create chaos just as antony wants to. This quotation means that they want to seek the conspirators and kill them and burn their houses because the romans want to seek revend for caesars death. This shows how antony wants to seek revenge because to do that he first needs to make the crowd realize that Caesar has done nothing wrong. Now the romans have realized he can take full revenge because now he has allies. This shows how furious antony is and it shows how antony wants to seek revenge because he is loyal to Caesar.
